Large LNG Carrier Construction Achieves “Accelerated Momentum”!

Four vessels under construction in one dock, with two launched on the same day

Recently, at Dock No. 2 of Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding’s Changxing Shipbuilding Base under China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), a remarkable milestone was achieved: for the first time, four 174,000-cubic-meter large liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers were simultaneously under construction in the same dock. Among them, two vessels were launched on the same day, while the other two achieved half-ship floating operations.

The scene of four LNG carriers being built simultaneously in one dock will become a regular practice. It also marks the start of an “accelerated” phase for Hudong-Zhonghua’s LNG carrier construction, with its capacity expansion strategy entering a new stage.

In 2024, Hudong-Zhonghua entered a crucial phase of upgrading its LNG carrier construction capacity expansion strategy. The company plans to complete eight vessels throughout the year, further strengthen its LNG carrier brand in the global market, accelerate the cultivation of new quality productive forces, and advance the development of a modern industrial system.
