CSSC Hudong-Zhonghua Achieves Key Production Milestones for Three Fifth-Generation LNG Carriers on the Same Day

On August 9, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), successfully achieved three major production milestones for three fifth-generation LNG carriers: two vessels were floated out from the dock, and one vessel commenced construction.

On the same day, two 174,000-cubic-meter LNG carriers were successfully floated out three days ahead of schedule. Meanwhile, two other large LNG carriers completed half-ship floating and relocation operations. Another 174,000-cubic-meter LNG carrier began construction one day ahead of schedule.

The three vessels involved in the dock-out and construction milestones are all fifth-generation “Changheng Series” LNG carriers independently developed and designed by Hudong-Zhonghua.

Equipped with multiple low-carbon and energy-saving technologies, the new-generation LNG carriers feature lower overall energy consumption, enhanced low-temperature performance, greater cargo capacity, and smarter operation and maintenance capabilities compared with previous-generation vessels.

Each vessel can reduce carbon emissions by more than 10 tonnes per day during operation and is capable of serving 120 LNG terminals across all continents, demonstrating outstanding global navigation capability.
